Dark Goddess (Devil's Kiss Series #2) by Sarwat Chadda

Barnes and Noble Overview:
New enemies, new romance, and new horrors,

They call themselves the Polenitsy - Man Killers. The ancient warrior women of Eastern Europe, supposedly wiped out centuries ago. But now they're out of hiding and on the hunt for a Spring Child — an Oracle powerful enough to blow the volcano at Yellowstone — precipitating a Fimbulwinter that will wipe out humankind for good.
The Templars follow the stolen Spring Child to Russia, and the only people there who can help are the Bogatyrs, a group of knights who may have gone to the dark side. To reclaim the Spring Child and save the world, Billi needs to earn the trust of Ivan Romanov, an arrogant young Bogatyr whose suspicious of people in general, and of Billi in particular.
Dark Goddess is a page-turning, action-packed sequel that spans continents, from England to the Russian underworld and back. This is an adventure of folklore and myth become darkly real. Of the world running out of time. And of Billi SanGreal, the only one who can save it.
EXCERPT
The screaming started immediately. The carriage was lit by small spots of pearly white as people used their mobiles to see, but all they revealed were the stark, rigid faces of fear. Billi tightened her hold on Vasilisa as the mass moved and buffeted against each other. The air thickened with terror.

“I can’t breathe!”
“Get out!”
“It’s a bomb!”
“It’s terrorists!”
“Open the doors!”
A scuffle broke out at as people tried to barge their way through the interconnecting doors while those in the next carriage tried to do the same. The screams multiplied and someone clawed at Billi’s leg as they were knocked down. Somewhere further in the compartment a baby started crying and in the eerie gloom Billi saw two men trying to wrestle the buggy away from the doors with the mother trying to fight them off.

The howl silenced the entire train. Everyone paused as some primeval dread crept through their skins and froze them. No one breathed.
My Review:
Ok guys, I'm sorry for being so behind but I have a job now and I just don't have as much time for blogging, but I promise I will try harder.
So here we go. This book is AWESOME!! It is so action packed, you will never be bored. And the best part about it is that there is fresh meat!!! Who doesn't love a young strapping tsar to be (he's Russian for goodness sake)?? I was drooling over him the whole time, just imagining what his accent is like turns me inside out (pssst... wipe the drool away ladies). If you haven't read the first book Devil's Kiss and are looking for a great new series while between books, this is one you need to read then. These books are amazing at keeping your attention and will not let you put them down until you are finished. It's a great book to read and I highly recommend it for all ages!

The Ghost and the Goth Review!!!

Barnes and Noble Synopsis:

After a close encounter with the front end of a school bus, Alona Dare goes from Homecoming Queen to Queen of the Dead. Now she's stuck as a spirit (DON'T call her a ghost) in the land of the living with no sign of the big, bright light to take her away. To make matters worse, the only person who might be able to help her is Will Killian, a total loser outcast who despises the social elite. He alone can see and hear (turns out he's been "blessed" with the ability to communicate with the dead), but he wants nothing to do with the former mean girl of Groundsboro High. Alona has never needed anyone for anything, and now she's supposed to expose her deepest, darkest secrets to this pseudo-goth boy? Right. She's not telling anyone what really happened the day she died, not even to save her eternal soul. And Will's not filling out any volunteer forms to help her cross to the other side. He only has a few more weeks until his graduation, when he can strike out on his own and find a place with less spiritual interference. But he has to survive and stay out of the psych ward until then. Can they get over their mutual distrust-and the weird attraction between them-to work together before Alona vanishes for good and Will is locked up for seeing things that don't exist?

My Review:

I actually read this book months ago, but I didn't realize until recently that I hadn't done a review on it. Which is crazy because I LOVE this book (dramatic sigh). When I started reading this book I couldn't put its down, so naturally you could see why I was horribly saddened by the fact that I had to go to school so, I compromised with myself and just took the book with me and ignored my teachers (enter laughter or scold here).  So while oppressing my education I learned a lot about the ghost (I mean spirit) and goth relationship and let me tell you right now, it is extensive. When you think two people can't dislike each other more, just put death and annoyance into the equation. This book was amazing. It had a  lot of depth to it. For example: the relationship between parent and child, not just in Alona's case but also in Will's situation. I loved the tension between Alona and Will after they started to get to know each other. That is how it should be, I think people should have to work for a relationship instead of just falling into one, like Stacey Kade shows in this book. I would read this book a million more times for the first time if a could but, alas I can not. But you can, so if your looking for a great and not just good book to read then go to your local book store and purchase this one. But if you have already read this book then I hope you are all on your seats waiting for the next one just like me.

Born at Midnight

Barnes and Nobel Synopsis:
Don’t miss this spectacular new series that will steal your heart and haunt your dreams,  Welcome to Shadow Falls camp, nestled deep in the woods of a town called Fallen…
One night Kylie Galen finds herself at the wrong party, with the wrong people, and it changes her life forever.  Her mother ships her off to Shadow Falls—a camp for troubled teens, and within hours of arriving, it becomes painfully clear that her fellow campers aren’t just “troubled.”  Here at Shadow Falls, vampires, werewolves, shapshifters, witches and fairies train side by side—learning to harness their powers, control their magic and live in the normal world.
Kylie’s never felt normal, but surely she doesn’t belong here with a bunch of paranormal freaks either.  Or does she?  They insist Kylie is one of them, and that she was brought here for a reason.  As if life wasn’t complicated enough, enter Derek and Lucas.  Derek’s a half-fae who’s determined to be her boyfriend, and Lucas is a smokin’ hot werewolf with whom Kylie shares a secret past.  Both Derek and Lucas couldn’t be more different, but they both have a powerful hold on her heart.
Even though Kylie feels deeply uncertain about everything, one thing is becoming painfully clear—Shadow Falls is exactly where she belongs…

My Review:
In my opinion this book is AMAZING! I could hardly put it down. I would have read straight through if I didn't have to go to school(sympathy sigh). I love how there is such a mystery. What is she? Why is she there? Who does she like? (heads spin in overload) This is a real page turner. I love how she portrayed the love square. I can usually tell who the character is going to chose, but with this one I have no idea. -lol- Tell me who you think she will end up with and why.

HEY!!!!

Just an update: Yesterday was my birthday!!!!! I am now the big 17!!!!

Nevermore

Barnes & Nobel Synopsis:
And the raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming,
And the lamp-light o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted - nevermore!
-- from "The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe
At once an homage to one of America's greatest writers and a page-turning psychological mystery that is equal parts horror, humor, and romance, NEVERMORE is the story of Varen -- a Poe-fan and goth -- and Isobel -- a cheerleader and unlikely heroine. When a Lit. project pairs the two together, Isobel finds herself steadily swept into Varen's world, one that he has created in his notebook and in his mind, one where the terrifying stories of Edgar Allan Poe come to life. Isobel slowly learns that dreams can be much more powerful than she'd ever expected, and that pain and despair come in all sorts of shades. As labels of "goth" and "cheerleader" fade away, she sees more in Varen than a tall, pale outcast, and a consuming romance is braced against the ever-clearer horror that the most terrifying realities are those within our own minds.
When Isobel has a single chance to rescue Varen from the shadows of his own nightmares, will she be able to save him -- and herself?
My Review:
Omg!!!This book was amazing. I just could not put it down! I was expecting there to be a stronger love connection between Varen and Isobel, but I have to admit that I loved that this book just kept me guessing. The whole time I was wondering what was going to happen. What did happen shocked me beyond belief(gasp). I love the poetry in this book, it really made me want to grab a Poe book and just start reading. What I liked most about this book is the mysterious story within the story. It made me feel like I was in this crazy upside-down world(insert head spin here). I love this book and hope you will read it and love it too. :D

Nightshade Review!!!!

Barnes & Nobel Synopsis:
Calla Tor has always known her destiny: After graduating from the Mountain School, she'll be the mate of sexy alpha wolf Ren Laroche and fight with him, side by side, their pack and guarding sacred sites for the Keepers. But when she violates her masters' laws by saving a beautiful human boy out for a hike, Calla begins to question her fate, her existence, and the very essence of the world she has known. By following her heart, she might lose everything-- including her own life. Is forbidden love worth the ultimate sacrifice?

My Review:
Omg!!! This has to be one of the best books I have read in a long time. First of all Calla hates being controlled. She is a true alpha. When Ren and Calla come together a new pack will be aligned (Oohhhhh)!!! But will Calla allow that to happen?? Well Ren starts to heat things up with Calla and she seems to really like it (wink, wink). But wait!! There's another man that has eyes for our young Calla. Shay is the mysterious new student with the hots for a certain she-wolf (insert claws here). Ren won't have any of that (no way). Things are about to change in the quiet town. Upon the mating ceremony, Calla and Shay start exploring his origins, among other things (oh BABY). Over all this book was fantastic, mysterious, and a joy to read. This is the first book like this that I have read that I actually want the one chosen for her by her parents to win. I hope all of you read this book. It's amazing!!!
